Be Connected evaluation: Engaging our network

The Be Connected program is currently being evaluated to see how well it is supporting over 50s across Australia to use the internet more safely and confidently.

Verian is an independent company that is working with Good Things and the Australian Government (who funds Be Connected) to conduct the evaluation. This is an opportunity to learn about what is working in the flagship digital inclusion program for older people in Australia, and how the program partners can enhance it’s impact.

Good Things network of community partners delivers grassroots digitals skills support to over 50s through the Be Connected program across the country. They and the people they support to learn are important voices in the evaluation.

The team at Verian will be conducting interviews during November 2025 to learn from the experience of digital mentors and program coordinators running the Be Connected program. Network partners will be approached directly to participate, ensuring that there is a good mix of participants from across the country. If they are a volunteer or the organisation does not have a Be Connected grant, they will receive an e-gift card ($30 for a 30 min interview, $60 for a 60 min interview) by email approximately 2–4 weeks after the interview as a thank you for their time.

The evaluation will then move on to speaking with program learners to understand their perspectives.

Good Things looks forward to seeing the results of the evaluation so we can ensure that the Be Connected program continues to provide social and digital inclusion to over 50s across the country.
