Get Online Week is back from 18 October – 24 October with a new theme: ‘Get Online. Get Connected.’
The past year has shown us that getting online is more important than ever, allowing us to get connected to friends and family, essential services, entertainment, education and work, and much more. However, 2.5 million people are not online in Australia and less than 40% of people are confident they can keep up as technology changes.
That’s why this year Get Online Week spreads the message that everyone can ‘Get Online. Get Connected’. We are supporting organisations nationwide to hold COVID-safe events (online or face-to-face, depending on local restrictions and community needs) to get online and improve their digital skills so they can feel confident and safe while being connected.
Last year, over 1,600 events were held for Get Online Week 2020, reaching over 23,500 people. Get Online Week participants and event holders agree that Get Online Week is beneficial for all involved – 92% of Get Online Week participants learned something new at an event, while 99% of event holders found Get Online Week beneficial to their community.
That all sounds great, but how do I get involved?

Can’t host an event this year? We’re inspiring everyone to get involved by calling five people for a digital skills check-in. Connect with people who haven’t attended online sessions during lockdown, or who haven’t come to your digital skills sessions for a while, and offer them your support to get connected. Tell us you’re taking part.
