Community organisations are closing the digital divide

Newly awarded community organisations are helping older people with digital skills and training mentors under the Be Connected programs.

Through the Be Connected programs, community organisations are providing digital skills support to people over 50 in their communities.

Good Things offers two grants to empower community organisations to support older people in their communities with digital skills so they can feel safer and more confident online. One of the grants is focused on preparing and training digital mentors to better support others.

Our Building Digital Skills grant is $3,000 – $20,500 funding to run a digital skills program supporting over 50’s to be connected. By providing the Be Connected program for free using this grant, recipients help older people develop their digital skills and confidence.

The Capacity Building grant trains digital mentors to support people with digital skills. The Capacity Building Grant gives $52,500 plus a training kit to upskill and support digital mentors from the participant organisations.

Community organisations submit an online application including a project plan and budget, outlining how the funds will be used and the impact it would have in their community. Applications are assessed and reviewed by our grants team in line with the grant guidelines for each round.
