Rosemary: The Digital Sisters program is important to my community because we are from immigrant background.

Back there, we don’t have computers and we were in war, running around in the bush. When we came here everything was new.

My community some there have no idea about digital literacy. So now, everything is changing, so they’re really eager to learn. These days everything is on the computer and online.

Esterina: Whatever you have to do it is online, so it’s opportunity for me to go and learn about it. You can have a smartphone but you’re not going to get opportunity to know what is inside there until you go for classes for AI and then after that you will know what to use in it.

Rosemary: The class was filled with excitement and also nervousness.

Esterina: The type of thing that I learn like translation from English to Arabic, from Arabic to English, and I use AI sending some email or sending some paperwork to my workplace. I have to download some stuff in my phone.

Rosemary: Women in my community they are using AI. They are using Siri to ask about the weather. They are now able to use the emails, chat bots or Google Translator. They also use AI to help the kids with the homework.

One lady just scream loudly say, “I did it, I did it! I sent my first email!”

Esterina: I feel more safe and I feel comfortable with it

Rosemary: They are learning a lot from this program and this is what is needed in the workforce.

Esterina: I want this program to continue because it’s helping a lot of people. It’s not only me, I can go out there and tell people about it because it’s really, really helpful.
