Learning a new language or writing in English can sometimes feel tricky, but there are handy ways you can quickly translate text.
There are AI tools that can act like a translator on your phone or computer. They can explain difficult words, translate signs or check your messages for spelling and grammar before you send them.
How to do it
There are many AI apps you can find on the internet such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude. Choose one and follow the steps below to have a go.
Tip: AI can get things wrong sometimes. Check important information with a human.
There are many ways to do it!
You can translate information using AI in many ways such as typing into the AI app, pasting copied text, or uploading a photo.
Type directly
Write your words straight into the AI app.
- Type: “Translate to” then add the language and the words you want translated.
- Select the send arrow.
Paste copied text
Copy text from a website or message and paste it into the AI app.
- Copy the text you want to translate.
- Paste it into the message box, type in the language you want it in and select send.
Upload a photo
AI can translate the text in a picture already saved on your phone or computer. In the AI app:
- Select the plus (+), paperclip or image icon.
- Pick a saved photo, ask it translate the words into the language you want and select send.
