What you need to do with the funding

The $1,000 Get Online Week event grant funds you to host a free digital skills event for your community between 20 – 26 October 2025.

Host a fun and engaging event

Get Online Week grants support community organisations to host creative, fun and engaging digital skills events in their local community.

Each event is different. During Get Online Week, people have learnt how to find YouTube tutorials about their favourite craft, gone on a QR code treasure hunt, and even holiday from their armchair!

Your event must be held in person during Get Online Week. It needs to help your community to get online more safely and confidently.

Our resources can help you to plan and host an amazing Get Online Week event.

If you are organising a Get Online Week event you can get our support, even if you decide a grant is not quite right for you:

  • Event marketing packs and resources to help you promote and host your event.
  • Upskilling webinars on how to host great digital skills events and how to promote them.
  • Fun ideas and materials to help you connect with event attendees.
  • How-to guides and checklists to build your confidence.

You need to host at least one in person event using your Get Online Week event grant.

You may host more than one event – in fact we encourage it!

This year any events funded by a Get Online Week grant need to be held in person. You may not use the grant to cover online event costs.

If you want to host an online event because that better meets the needs of your community, you can still do so. You just cannot use grant funds to pay for it.

This grant is available through the Be Connected program. This means you need to do certain things as part of planning and hosting your event.

To include the Be Connected program, you need to:

  • Invite over 50s to your event
  • Promote and use the Be Connected learning website to event attendees
  • Encourage attendees to attend a follow up Be Connected session after your event (ideally hosted by your organisation)
  • Your event must be free to attend.

See the grant guidelines for a full list of requirements around incorporating the Be Connected program into your event.
